"For the same reason the court put him on probation upon the 1994 misdemeanor conviction. Standard procedure." -- @PRIME.. As you mentioned earlier, though, legalities (adherence to legal procedures in this example) are based on a moral principle. The elders knew he could be dangerous and had to be watched, and so did the police. That the police or the system may have failed to warn people, whilst possibly a fair point, is irrelevant to this case for now as it is the elders and organisation that are being charged. And besides, the procedures of Jehovahs earthly organization should be far superior to those of Satan's wicked system, surely? I notice that you still haven't answered my earlier question (what would you have done).. Perhaps you can't do so directly and honestly?

Cedars-- Regarding the "we have truly seen jehovahs hand" article you wrote.. Excellent work, well written and concise. I felt moved by it, without feeling controlled/led. Can I offer one small criticism, though? (please don't take it as an attack). This line.. "Likely, you would not want to speak to a Jehovah’s Witness again for the rest of your life, and nobody would blame you for feeling that way."... Not only does it seem, to me, a bit unnecessary, you could just leave the question of how the family could feel hanging and let the reader use their imagination.. but maybe it could also sound like you were telling someone how they would feel.. It could just be me and my lunacy, its just that when I read that line, it set off Watchtower alarm bells in my head..you know..'no doubt you would feel'.. and then they tell you how you would/should feel. Anyway, maybe I'm just crazy, great article anyway :)

Know your place..
by The Quiet One inthis weeks watchtower study contains an image that depicts the hierarchy of the org, with the picture showing god and the angels, followed by the governing body directly underneath heaven.. and the rest descending further away from it.. (check the following link, my description isn't the best.
) "the earthly part of jehovahs organization includes: 1.the governing body 2.branch committees 3.travelling overseers 4.bodies of elders 5.congregations 6.individual publishers very subtle.. http://www.jw.org/en/publications/magazines/w20130415/do-not-tire-out/.

Sir82, it was sarcasm.. At the same time, I would love to know what any active Jw's think about it. My guess is that "the picture merely shows how the 'spiritual food' filters down to us"..

Why Jehovah's Witnesses Are Discouraged From Using the Internet
by AllTimeJeff inat a recent series of circuit assemblies, the governing body put out warnings on what in their view is the latest danger from satan, designed to break the faith of jehovah's witnesses everywhere.. facebook.. yes, thats right, apparantly, the gb is concerned because a lot of people are having "facebook sex".
they are meeting old friends who aren't jehovah's witnesses and getting it on with whomever would willingly sleep with them.
evidentally, the gb would like their flock to believe that when jw's get on facebook and other social networking sites, fornication happens.. now, this is news.

In case anyone thinks that the fear of the internet is dying off, this latest thread from Jwtalk indicates otherwise.. "People have become so spooked about any internet site...yet most have been on Facebook (as this other sister is) for years, whereas I have never wanted to be on Facebook. There is this thing called FREE WILL that Jehovah gave to all of us.".. And other examples of people being treated with suspicion.. http://jwtalk.net/forums/topic/9856-im-in-trouble-for-recommending-this-site/

Apostates-slander and generalizations
by The Quiet One infrom a human apostate talk transcript.. "apostates profess to be followers of jesus..they lie to authorities...apostatesare not sincere in their expressions.

Great example of this kind of thinking on Topix.. truthsetsfree said: "If you watch the apostates what they try and do is use words that they think give their argument credibility, words like "critical thinking" "cognitive dissonance" and so on and so on. But what you'll actually realize when you read their answers or comments that they have entirely no reasoning ability, [they're] unreasonable, downright lie, they make assumptions, they miss the point entirely, set up "straw man" arguments(look up what that means) and then when their backed into acorner they try and get rid of you by making out you shouldn't be here. This is hypocrisy of the highest order. Mainly because they tell you we should think for ourselves yet don't extend that courtesy to us." http://topix.com/forum/religion/jehovahs-witness/TEL9FKEM09UQQTNVF

Too sick or injured but still made it to the meeting!
by RULES & REGULATIONS ini once attended a two day special assembly with my gums bleeding after having 4 widom teeth pulled the day before.
i managed the two days by rinsing out my mouth all day long and placing cotton in my mouth.. one brother had back surgery the week before but attended a two day assembly by laying on a matress in the back of the assembly hall.
why he needed to be there i'll never understand!.

DeWandelaar.."When I was in my mothers womb they got me 2 weeks earlier (by Caesarean section) to be able to get to the district convention... I lay in a Neonatal intensive care unit because of it..." .. I've not read anything in a while that so vividly depicts a cult mentality, placing care for a defenseless baby second to some big indoctrination session. It's just..

"weren't being nasty or anything. They were just a little too pushy and probing" ..and you came away feeling guilty? Exactly. What is the real meaning of 'encouragement', and what is the effect on people?
